Slow to get back.

I have been away for a short time and will be gone for one more week. My wife became very ill and was in need of day to day care. I can report she is doing well but all prayers are still welcome. We could feel the love and prayers from our many friends and I thank you all for that. I need a week or so and I will be back to my day to day blogs. God Bless and a happy new year to each of you.

Survival In Your Area

Urban survival and wilderness survival are a lot alike and at the same time worlds apart. With both you need survival skills and the right tools to do the job. At times the tools are the same for both kinds of survival. But your needs in each area are very different. Like water in the wilderness you can find water in many places, but in an urban environment water may be a very hard thing to come by or you may find it and it's just not safe to drink. You must prepare for the area you are in and near because you may have to bug out to a area near by. Make plans to survive in both the urban environment and wilderness. Lets say you live in the city and you have always lived in the city. So you plan for a urban survival situation, you have water, food and shelter and ways to replace any of the need supplies you have, but you don't have a back up plan for an emergency bug out to the wilderness that is near your area. You never have even been to the woods for more than a day hike. And then you find yourself in the heart of the woods with no plan and very little supplies and no wilderness skills. Your chance for survival has dropped off the chart. I live in a rural/urban area it's close to a small city and very close to the wilderness so I plan to survive in both areas. I have both urban and rural skills, although I'm not even close to being as ready as I would like to be. I still make plans and work out any problems I find. I add to my preps and as time and money allows I add needed tools and equipment for survival in both urban and rural areas.
Make your plans to fit your area of survival, and stock up on the needed items. Our time is short and with each day we draw closer to collapse. So do what you need to do to prepare and store as much food, water and other supplies as you can for the coming Dark Age. Our way of life and the way we live are about to change forever. Be ready for it so you can survive.

We have Not Even Seen The Worst Yet....

So far this country has had a bad run, but the worst is yet to come. The jobless rate will get worse and the holiday sales want be as good as they needed them to be. And just after the first of the year I think the collapse will hit and hit hard. Now is the time to store up on food and get your house in order. You need food, water, medical supplies and other household items to survive this collapse. You need a way to cook your food and heat water and do it over and over day after day, like a Fire pit or outdoor brick stove. This way you can use wood to heat your food and water. We need to remember that food, water, fire and shelter are the first and foremost needs to survive. So keep up your prepping and stand ready to fight for what is yours. Our time is short and the evil is on it's way.

Your Preps, What Do You Need To Add?

I have been looking over my preps and trying to find any holes. I know I have holes I find them all the time, and then add to them to fill the hole. I have a nice stock of food, but when I was going over it I saw I was very low on powdered milk so I ordered more #10 cans of milk. I will be working on more 5 gallon buckets of beans, rice, salt and sugar this week. I think I will add a bucket of Mac&Cheese to the mix just to see how it goes. I ask you all to look over your preps and check your items for dates and look for things you have missed in your prepping so you can add them. I try to check my items as often as I can. Work your preps so when you need them they will work for you. Keep up the work you are doing with your preps and keep adding to them as much as you can afford. I do feel like our time is short and the evil is near, so stand ready and fight to keep what is yours, because when the collapse hits the sheeple will be running crazy and the world will never be the same. Have yourself and your family ready to live and survive this coming collapse. It's not if it comes but when it hits and when it hits you better be ready. Because when it hit it will be to late to prepare. Stay strong and stay on course.

The crap I read everyday on-line just keeps getting funnier and funnier. Today I saw this at Yahoo,

"We avoided the depression many feared," Obama said in a speech at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank. But, he added, "Our work is far from done."

Now I have a question, If you are broke how can you spend yourself out of debt? Because this country is BROKE and all the money the dead heads of government are using is money borrowed from China or other countries. If you make $4000.00 a month and spend $5000.00 that puts you $1000.00 in the hole every month. So how can this country spend it’s self out of debt. I think Obama is a joke writer for Mad Magazine! I would laugh but it’s not funny at all. I think this guy is going to kill this country, because every thing he has done or is looking to do is one big joke and the people of this country are the ones that will have to pay back and pay for his jokes. Let’s look at a few TARP, Cap and Trade, Health Care Reform and now let’s spend our way out of trouble. The Obama plan is like telling a diabetic that yes you are sick but here have this big plate of sweets and eat as much candy and cake as you like because now you are on medication to help with your diabetes so indulge yourself and live like there is no tomorrow.
We are heading for a Dark Age in this country, because we all have done nothing to stop the leaders of this country from ripping it apart. We sit on our butt’s and watch the Dumb-down Tube and believe every thing they put in front of you. Now is the time wake up and take back your life. Get out and build up your supplies. Stock up of food, water, and other needed items to weather this storm that is headed our way. When the collapse hits it will be to late, if you get caught with no supplies and the collapse hits your as good as dead! The people with the food, water, medical supplies, guns and ammo are the people that will survive. Prepare yourself now, because your time is very short. And everyday you let slip by is one more missed day to prepare.

A Rumor Going Around. Is It True?

I have been reading a rumor that, Obama orders 1 million troops to prepare for civil war.

Russian Military Analysts are reporting to Prime Minister Putin today that US President Barack Obama has issued orders to his Northern Command’s (USNORTHCOM) top leader, US Air Force General Gene Renuart, to “begin immediately” increasing his military forces to 1 million troops by January 30, 2010, in what these reports warn is an expected outbreak of civil war within the United States before the end of winter.

According to these reports, Obama has had over these past weeks “numerous” meetings with his war council about how best to manage the expected implosion of his Nations banking system while at the same time attempting to keep the United States military hegemony over the World in what Russian Military Analysts state is a “last ditch gambit” whose success is “far from certain”.

I don't know what to believe from one day to the other. As far fetched as the rumor may sound to me I have learned that you can find a little truth in just about anything you look into. I have believed for some time now that the government has been up to some plan to fight the patriots of this country. Just look up REX 84 and you can see what I mean. Rex 84, short for Readiness Exercise 1984, is a plan by the United States federal government to test their ability to detain large numbers of refugees or American citizens in case of civil unrest or national emergency.
You have to weed out the rumors and find the truth for yourself, as for me I believe that our government is an evil force that has a dreadfully evil plan for this country and the people that live here, and I think this plan is a big part of the New World Orders plan to control the world.

I believe our time is short and now is the time to get ready. If you don't have preps you need to start stocking up NOW. If you already are putting away preps then step up your work and get food, water and other supplies. As I have said, our government is evil and that evil is just over the hill and night is approaching.

Working On My Preps Today

I worked on some of my preps today. I bagged up some beans and rice with my food saver. Moved more of my stuff around, I hope one day I will feel like I have everything in the right place. Till then I will move things around. I have to go and buy more food saver bag tomorrow and I think I will pick up some more rice and beans, maybe more salt to. I will be ordering more items from Honeyville at http://store.honeyvillegrain.com/ They have good items and the shipping is only $4.49 to anywhere in the USA. I have gotten food from them before and find them very nice to do business with and I like there prices. I think I am putting in 15-25 hours a week to my preps and I can see progress so far. I have a list of things I would like to have done before the end of the year and I am on a mission to get them done. Keep up your work on your preps and stand ready because evil is coming, can't you feel it?

The Road The Movie.....



I went to see The Road today. I still go to the movie off and on with my wife but today I went alone. I think it was a good movie as far as end of the world movies go. It jumps right into the story and shows the evil side of man. This movie is about a man and his son's fight to survive the end of the world. It never tells you what happened as far as the cause of the end, at one part he said there were bright flashes of light and then things started to happen. I took it to be some solar burst that set of many other things. The world was dark with very little light and cold, and very few lived. I don't think we will get hit with solar burst that would do something like this but you never know. I do know that the way the people were in this movie will be the same as they will be when a big collapse hit us. In the movie the people with the guns and the food were the people that lived. Some only had guns and killed other people to live by eating them. As I said this is a dark movie and I hope a wake up call to some of the sheeple that see it. I saw lots of things in the movie I didn't like and thought were way off base for real survival. I just went to see a movie and I tried not to pick it apart. It was good and I will buy it to add to my home DVD library. As I said in my last post things are bad now and getting worse, you need to stop and take some time to get ready. Because if anything happens you need to be ready to fight for what is yours and grow and hunt what you need to eat. My friends evil is just over the hill. Stand tall and fight for your survival.

Use Your Time Well........

I think we are very short on time. A collapse is very near and this collapse will be as big as they can get. I think it will be an over night thing, we will go to sleep and wake up the next day to a mess. Most will not be prepared for the long fight ahead. But the few who are prepared and are stocking up of needed items. I ask you are you using your time to your advantage? You need to make your time work for you, let me explain; if you work a 40 hour work week lets say from 9am to 5pm ( I know very little of us work this) you have a few hours in the morning to work on preps or a few hours in the evening or both. But you need to plan a time t work on your preps and stick to your plan. You can buy items one day and next day store them away. You need to be working on your food, water, and other supplies. Our time is ticking away and every day you do nothing is one more day of prepping you have lost. At this point and time every day is of great importance. We can't afford to lose even one day. Sit down and plan out your preps and put as much extra time into your preps as you can. And in a short time you will see big returns on you work. Keep your eye's open and your ear to the ground, because evil is just over the hill and night is coming. Stand ready to keep what is your.

The Coming Dark Age

This country is in a deep recession and is knocking on the door of another great depression. We are falling every week more jobs lost and more people on unemployment every week. The dollar is slowly going down every week, which it turn is making the cost of everything go up. So how long can this country take this junk from the government? I think a big collapse is coming soon; very soon. And I don’t see this being a short run of bad times. I think this time we will fall and fall hard. We are going to be kicked back into the dark ages. And not because of the loss of technology or the manufacturing and productive processes, this is something this country started losing years ago we don’t make very many things here any more. I do think the loss of technology and the arability to manufacture goods will play a big part in the events after the collapse. Our first step into the New Dark Ages will be from the instant jump in crime. The day the collapse happens the sheeple will rush the stores for food and supplies. There will be no law, just the law of survival. The friends down the street with the three kids will not be the same people after the collapse. Everyone will be different and everyone will be fighting to survive the collapse. People will get shot over everyday items like milk, bread, baby food and formula. If you ever watched the wild kingdom from years ago and saw how the mother bear, lion, tiger and any other wild animal would fight to the death to protect there young; this is the way the mothers of young kids will be the day of the collapse and many days after the collapse. I see the people of this country going into a madding state and just killing for the things they need or want. The strong will survive and the weak will die. This will go on for many days, weeks and months until the supplies start to run out. The ones at the stores, in trucks, trains and in warehouses then the people will turn on each other even more. Partners in crime during the collapse will very rapidly kill each other over the small amount of supplies they have left. It will be just like the dark ages. Everyday will be a fight to stay alive and a fight to find food, water and other supplies. Most people don’t think about where there food comes from, they don’t understand that it takes a very large group of people to get food to the store. And most people don’t know that there is just so much food on the shelves at the store. If you have every gone into a grocery store on a holiday or the day before it you will see how fast the food goes off the shelves. Now just think how fast it would go if everyone for ten block radius ran in all at one time and grabbed everything that was not bolted down. Think of the fights at the gas stations and Wal-Mart. It will be a nightmare and a nightmare a lot of people will see very soon. This New Dark Age will last for many years and the only thing you can do is get ready for it. Buy seeds and know how to use them and buy a gun and ammo and know how to use it, that means train with it. Go the range and shoot as mush as you can. Buy food and stock it deep and high. Have water on hand and ways to get clean water for later. And medical supplies have them and know how to use them. Take a first aid class or an EMT class, but know how to care for yourself and your loved ones. Our time is short and a New Dark Age is before us, so prepare as you need to because the days ahead are very dark.

I Just Don't Get It!

With all that is going on in this country with the dollar dying, the price of gold going up over $1200.00 and oz and the news of Climategate all you can see or read about is Tiger Woods and how he will lose money in endorsement deals. I get sick every time I see this junk on the news. Big deal if Tiger Woods can't keep it in his pants, I don't care! The news now days is as useless as using a BB Gun to hunt Bears. Why don't we see the head lines of all the papers and every on line news site telling the walking dead to get ready! Or just to prepare for the bad times ahead. That would be good to see. And I know some of the news papers have ran small stories about the bad times we are about to face, but they never tell the full truth and most of the time you only get about 10% of the truth from the story. But I want the hard line in your face news of years past. I want the anchor to come on look right into the camera and say,"America We Are In A Big Mess" and then I want them to talk about ways to be ready and get ready for the collapse. But I know, and you know that will never happen, never in a billion years. The news is just one part of the soft slow sleep the great multitude of sheeple have been put into. This great sleep is a slow death for the multitude of sheeple walking the earth. So if the news will not tell the truth and the Government will never tell the truth; where are we going to find the truth? That one beacon of light to help guide us to safety. I think the answer is with the Patriot Blog's from all over the web.

What To Do Next?



So with our time so short and the collapse of this country knocking at our door what do you have on you list to do next. I know we all are prepping and stocking up on needed items, but what is your next big project? For me it will be building 6-8 more planter boxes for the garden and 4 or 5 more planter boxes for some more dwarf fruit trees for next spring. I think I will even build a small chicken coop over the winter so I can start to have eggs. At this time I barter with my friends next door for most of my eggs and buy the rest at the store. But the home raised eggs taste so good and you know what the chickens are eating, not like the ones from Wal-Mart. I think the barter system will be the new way to buy and sell goods after the collapse, so I try to barter as much as I can now to be ready for the collapse. The people who grow, hunt and barter there food will be the survivors in the coming years. Our life is about to be turned upside down and the few that are ready for the hard time ahead have a much better chance of survival than the dead head sheeple. With just a little hard work and some planning you to can become a survivor. So my question to you is, ”What Do You Do Next?”

My friends our time is short just read the news or sit down and watch the nightly news. The truth is deep inside the Bull-Muck that they put out everyday, but if you can read in-between the lines you will see the truth. And as time gets shorter the crazy leaders and the New World Order are not even hiding it they just lay it out for you right in the open. Gold, Silver And Your Survival.......


I see that gold and silver are doing very well lately. I own a little silver but I sold off all my gold when it hit $1000 an oz and I have sold a good bit of my silver here lately and used the money to buy more preps. I think having silver and gold is a good thing and if you have some hold on to it. The silver I had I bought years ago when it was a hell of a lot lower than $18 an oz. I still have a good bit of silver but here at the end of the road. I got to thinking and for me to think is not an easy thing to do. But I was thinking that as nice as silver is I would much rather have 6 more months of food now, so I sold some of the silver and bought more food. Now I'm not telling people to drop everything and sell there silver as I have done. What I'm telling you is to think of what you want. I rethink my plan of survival from time to time and I thought that at this time it would be better for me to sell a little and buy more food. You may think differently than I do, and that's good. We never should all think alike, because being and doing things different makes life way more interesting. I don't think I will sell anymore of my silver and I will still build on my preps as much as I can in the last days we have before the collapse. And I think the collapse is very close now. Our time is very short so get to prepping and keep your eye's open, because evil is just over the hill and night is approaching.

Impending Economic Collapse of the USA


I see even in the main stream news the talk of the dollar and it's collapse. I read on-line of how the dollar is dropping, and gold and silver is going up. The rest of the world is ready to toss the dollar in the fire. But at home we are playing around like this is just another day in this country. Our national debt (total accumulated debt) is over $12,000,000,000,000 this is the sum of all the annual deficits less any surpluses. This is one-year's shortfall so far. This shortfall must be made up by borrowing. How long do people think this can keep up? How long do we have before the big boom? I see the collapse coming very soon, our time is getting very short. The time we have left you need to be getting ready. Stock up on food NOW!!! If you are already stocking then stock more ASAP. Most of the country will never see this coming and by the time it hits them it will be to late for them. The sheeple will freak out and run crazy. So get you goods now and be ready for the collapse, because I don't care what the boob tube tells you it's coming and it's coming soon. Remember that evil is just over the hill and night is coming.

Happy Thanksgiving


It's that time of the year again, it's Thanksgiving. A time to give thanks for all that we have, and a time to gather your family around you and enjoy a great meal. I still have great memories of friends and family at this great time of the year. I think even after the big collapse this day will still hold great meaning to many people. I still see people getting together for food and good times. Plus after the collapse I see people gathering for news and info from around the area. I think meals of thanksgiving will be a time for people to gather and let down there hair. I know the road that lays before us is long and hard, and the things we will have to endure will be very bad. But we will have times where we can gather and talk and eat a good meal. If we still can't do the fun things from time to time why would we try to survive?

Trying New Things With My Food Prep's


I use my food saver all the time. I buy big blocks of cheese and cut it down to small blocks and freeze the extra. I bag up rice, grits, beans and many other items with the food saver to pack into 5 gallon buckets. I just bagged up a box of Mac & Cheese with the powdered cheese bag. I don't know how well this will keep, but I do want to try it out and see. I do know that years ago I found a box of Kraft Mac&Cheese that was almost a year out of date and I said to myself,"try it to see if it's still good". So I did and it was good the cheese and the noodles were just fine. So my thinking is if I can get the air off both the bag of cheese powder and the noodles it will last way longer than the 24 month expiration date. I know that compounds or mixes of more that one item over time will break down, like Bisquick even if put into a food saver bag over time the compounds of the mix start to have a chemical reaction and break down. I have read on-line about pancake mix in food saver bags popping after a year or more because of the chemical reaction. I'm not sure about the cheese powder in the Mac&Cheese, because it comes in a foil lined package and has a shelve life of 24 months. If any of you have tried this please post a comment and let me know how it works. I am always trying new things to see if they work. So if you have an idea you want to share with me just post it and I will try it out. I have learned great tricks and tips from other survivalist. I plan to learn much more over the years to come. Help The Sheeple Wake Up!!!!

We all need to help wake up some of the sheeple. I myself have not been talking to very many people about the coming collapse, because I was tired of the stone wall I would run into every time I would bring up the subject. But I think I need to step it up and try to help some of the dead heads out there. I think with some of the crazy stuff uncle sugar is pulling on all of us it will be a little bit easier to wake them up. I know that some of them will never wake up and never see the light till the train is just about to hit them. But I am going to try again to help the few that will allow me to help them. I know our time is short and everyday we waste doing nothing is a day gone forever. I will try to plant the seeds of preparedness in as many people as I can. I do have one person at works that thinks like me. I talk with her every time I see her, and she is working to better herself and her family with supplies. I wish everyone would think like this and get their families stocked up on food, water, medical supplies and household items for the coming collapse. I just don't understand why people will buy car, boat, house, life and medical insurance to be ready for any unseen trouble, but if you mention the words EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS, SURVIVAL OR SURVIVALIST; then you have become a instant nut or crazy person. I stock up because I want the insurance of survival after a collapse and I would like to do it with as little trouble as I can get away with.

I am going to start talking with the sheeple again and I'm not sure if I will do any good or not, but I'm going to give it one more try till I get sick of it again. I think I get a little crazy when I can't talk to people about survival. I have been quiet for weeks now and need to try to help again. In a week or two I will be posting how I'm tired of the stone wall again.
As for you people who do prep I ask you to step up your work because it looks bad. I still think I am going to wake up one day soon to TEOTWAWKI. Our time is short.

Fall And Winter Checklist

In the late fall nobody wants to be doing chores around the house. It's time to snuggle in by the fire and stay out of the cold. But...there are a few items that should really be taken care of before the weather gets too cold and brutal. This may only be a partial list for some people due to your location. I consider this to be a list for average climates. I recommend you print this list for use around the house and add the unlisted items that you should do for your climate or area.

Indoors:
Change furnace filters and if needed replace thermometer battery
Clean and turn on humidifier
Wash windows
Have chimney and flue cleaned
Have furnace professionally checked, cleaned, and tested
Turn off and drain garden hose spigots and cover if needed
Check weather stripping around doors and windows (replace as needed)
Have furniture and carpets cleaned to help cut down indoor pollution

Outdoors:
Put away patio furniture
Drain and store garden hoses
Check around doors and windows for gaps, caulk as needed
Wash windows
Put up storm windows
Put away or cover grill (make sure gas is turned off)
Clean gutters and downspouts (important to keep ice build-ups minimal)
Check your roof for any problems and sweep or use a leaf-blower to clean off you roof.
Put up Holiday lights and decorations (the holidays will be here before you know it)
Trim trees and shrubs away from house

Survival Skills #37 How to Make an solar-powered Oven



You can easily make an oven from a few simple supplies, which you may already have around the house. This oven is solar-powered, so it can save on energy costs. A solar oven will come in handy for camping or for hot summer days when you want to bake without heating up the kitchen. What's more, almost anything that you bake in a conventional oven can be baked in this homemade solar oven.


Step 1
Find two cardboard boxes of different sizes. The larger box should be at least ½ inch wider than the smaller box on all sides. The smaller box needs to be at least 15 inches by 15 inches. Glue aluminum foil to the inside of each box.
Step 2
Lay several layers of newspaper in the bottom of the larger box. Cut off the top flaps or fold them down inside the boxes. Place the smaller box inside the larger box and stuff crumpled newspaper between the two boxes to serve as insulation.
Step 3
Make a solar reflector. Cut a piece of cardboard two inches wider than the top side of the larger box. Cover the reflector with aluminum foil, gluing it on in smooth strips to cover the cardboard completely. Use several thicknesses of tape as a hinge to attach the reflector to one side of the outer box.
Step 4
Paint the outside of the box oven with a nontoxic glossy black paint to help it absorb heat. Cover the bottom of the inner box with black construction paper.
Step 5
Use dark-colored, non-reflective baking dishes to bake your food in the oven. You can make biscuits, cookies, cakes, breads, or anything else you can think of in this oven. You can even place a pot of stew or a casserole to cook in the oven. Place the baking dish in the center of the inner box. Depending on the amount of sunlight in the area, foods can take two to three times longer to cook than when using a conventional oven, so start early in the day.
Step 6
Place the oven in full sun and position the reflector so the sun is shining directly on it. Check every few hours to be sure the reflector remains facing the sun.
Step 7
Spread plastic wrap over the top of the box and tape it down securely, leaving it in place until the food is done.

Short Post Today

Well the senate vote on health care is Saturday night, just like last time on the weekend and at night. They lone to rip us off under the cover of darkness. I think just as before this will pass and it will become the way it is. I heard the about 65% of the country doesn't want this health care bill to pass, but that doesn't matter they know what's best for us. We all just need to sit down and shut up. Remember if you don't like the health care bill you are a racist, and if you go to the Tea Parties you are a racist, or if you make a stand against anything that Obama wants or has to say that makes you a racist. I think it's very clear that they want us to be mindless fools and do what they say, and never, never have our own voice. Because if you have your own voice and you can think for yourself you must be a right wing extremist and be a racist to. I work in health care and I see the care that people get everyday and I know they get great care. I don't know why we are trying to redo something that only needs to be fixed. Health care is not perfect, but don't tear it down and start new lets fix what needs to be fixed and keep on going. We have the best health care of any country of the world. But after this senate vote and a win we will not be the same country as before and if we don't make a stand now we will lose this great country, because Obama is dead set to tear down this country and build a new one. And I don't want to see the new one.
People get yourself ready and stock up on food, water and medical supplies, because our time is short. Evil is just over the hill and night is coming.

Survival Skills #36 Annual Generator Maintenance



When the power goes out, a generator is only good if it can perform. That performance and efficiency depends on the size of the unit and how well it is maintained. A properly maintained generator will provide its power rating when running. A poorly maintained generator may only start the first time and then never run again.


Clean and Dry
The electricity produced by a generator is a godsend during a power outage, but it can be extremely hazardous when the generator itself is allowed to get wet and dirty. Conditions such as these create corrosion on the parts that conduct electricity. To prevent this, wipe down the generator after each use. Remove all built-up dirt and mud. Dry the generator by wiping it with a clean rag. Blow out ventilation cooling fins with compressed air, if available. Store the generator in a clean, dry and secure area. Inspect all electrical connections for signs of corrosion, which will appear as a white to greenish powder on the connections. Clean all corrosion and treat the connectors with an anti-corrosion inhibitor available from most hardware and home stores.

Oil and Filters
Change the oil and the accompanying filters as recommend by the manufacturer. Replace these components yearly, even if the generator has sat for a long period of time. Check the spark plug; clean the tip and gap. Keep extra oil, filters and spark plugs on hand. Test-run the generator at least twice a year to keep all internal parts lubricated and the fuel moving through the system. Add fuel stabilizer if the generator is only used for emergency backup power during outages. Gasoline will turn sour after a certain amount of time, typically six to nine months, if left untreated.

Mechanical
Inspect all bolts on the unit after the generator has cooled down from use. Vibration will loosen even the tightest of bolts over time. Keep a small tool kit that contains all the sockets or wrenches needed for servicing the unit. Include in the tool kit a screwdriver, pliers and a roll of electrical tape. Extension cords rated for the power of the generator should also be kept on hand. Inspect these electrical cords as part of a yearly maintenance routine, as rodents and other vermin may use the insulation as a chewing device.

Plan a scheduled maintenance twice a year; schedule the service time for predicted down times of the generator. Chances are the unit is only operated during winter and summer storms, so set dates for maintenance like the first day of spring and the first day of fall. Mark these times on the calendar as a reminder. Keep a record of the maintenance performed with the generator, too, so you can refer back to this record if a problem arises during operation. The goal of any equipment maintenance is to ensure the machine runs when it's needed.

Keep extra parts on hand for that 3am mishap where you brake something that you don’t have on hand and need for the generator to work and plan for needed items.

Survival Skills #35 How to make an Small Urban Survival Tin/Kit



This is a small urban kit for the workers that have to make a trip into the city or big town and can’t take there BOB. Or this is a great little day hike kit.

Step 1
First, get your Altoid’s tin, (make sure it's cleaned out), and then lay all of your stuff out on a large flat surface. This is so you can see what you have, how you would use it, and to make it easier when it comes to packing it.

Step 2
Take your duct tape and wrap it around the toothpick, until you have an amount you are comfortable with (I'd say about 5' or so), but that can still fit in your tin comfortable. Next snap off both ends of your toothpick that stick out. (If you want to skip this, several companies sell pre-wrapped duct tape like this, go to any backpacking store, like R.E.I., or save the money and do it yourself!)

Step 3
Put the four Aleve, two Dayquil, and utility razor in one baggie, then fold it up tightly. Next, do the same with the matchbook.

Step 4
Start packing your Altoid tin, flat stuff first. The money, needle and thread, band-aids, paperclip, and antiseptic hand wipe are all pretty flat, so try them first.

Step 5
Next, try to arrange the other items (minus the rubber bands), as best you can, remembering that the LED flashlight will come on if pushed down when the lid closes, so it might take a few times, but it will all fit.

Step 6
Add the fish hooks, line and weights. If you have room in the tin add a small cork for a floater.

Step 7
If you have room left, put in the rubber bands. Take another small piece of duct tape and put it on the lid to close it. The duct tape can be reused until it loses it's stickiness, and then you still have more in the kit! If you didn't have room left for the rubber bands, put them around the outside.

Step 8
Use a small mag-light the AA size with the 550 Para cord wrapped around the flashlight, this will not fit into the kit but with a flashlight holder for your belt the light and the tin kit will go well together. And May I add a good Leatherman to the mix this way you a flashlight and a Leatherman on your belt and a survival tin and flashlight in your pocket, this combo makes a great little urban survival kit.

Things You'll Need:
Altoid’s tin or small plastic box
needle with thread wrapped around it
small LED flashlight
2-4 safety pins (recommended different sizes)
$10 Bill and two $5 dollar bills
4 quarters and 4 dimes
antiseptic hand wipe
2 sticks of gum

2-4 normal band-aids

Survival Skills # 34 How to Make a Winter Survival Kit for a Car



Though rare, there are certain times a winter survival kit for your car will come in handy. People die every year in their automobiles from exposure to the elements during harsh weather conditions. It takes mere minutes for the warmth of a car to plunge into deadly below zero temperatures in many parts of the country. There is a basic survival kit that takes up very little space in your car and may someday save your life and those who may be with you. The items can fit into a small plastic tote and fit nice in your trunk, you’ll never know it’s there till you need it.

Step 1
Include items in your survival kit which can heat up the car. To warm up a car that has died by the side of the road in a blizzard, certain items are proven to be effective. Have a UCO Original Candle Lantern, with extra candles. Make sure to have a window open just a little for oxygen to get into the car. And don’t forget the matches and 2-3 bic lighters.

Step 2
Pack candles. Another way to warm up the interior of a car in freezing weather is with a medium candle placed in a metal coffee can. Make sure you crack a window. The warmth of one candle can raise the temperature enough to keep you alive. Two candles in two cans are even better. You can store two coffee cans with toilet paper in each one and have the lid for both. That way you have a make shift bathroom if needed. Of course the extra jackets, blankets lots of blankets (4-8 of them), hats, gloves, socks, and long underwear that you packed in your winter survival kit will help also. Plus put the pocket hand warmers in your kit after the hunting season you can find them for 50-75% off, so stock up and pack them in your car kit.

Step 3
Have a way to signal someone for help from the car. A cell phone will work great if you have a useful signal. A flashlight with batteries can be used to signal in the dark and aid in reading car manuals. You must have some flares in your kit they work very well for many things. I would have a crank radio and crank flashlight in your kit.

Step 4
Include food and water in your survival kit. This is important to keep up your energy if you have to remain with your vehicle over a prolonged period. This does happen in remote places in severe weather. Nuts, dried fruit and candy bars will provide nutrition and energy. Cup-a-soup, ramen noodles and a few cans of soup or stew with help out in a time of need. Bottled water will keep you hydrated so keep a case of water in your car. You will need a mess kit with a metal cup and bowl so you can heat your food. And forks and spoons will help to.

Step 5
A good first-aid kit, you can buy a store bought one just add needed items that you and your family would need. You most make this kit fit your needs and the needs of your family. So add the little things that your family need.

Step 6
Keep your survival kit current. Making a list of things you need for your survival kit is an easy way to remember to pack it during winter months. It is also a good way to ensure there are fresh batteries in your flashlight, extra batteries, dry, new matches or good lighters, or new food and water. And make a list of all items in the kit and the dates that the item goes bad so you can pull that item when needed.

Step 7
A small flare-gun kit. You can get this at Wal-Mart for about $25-$35 and is well worth the money. If you are lost and broke down in the cold and snow a plane near may never see your car but if you shot off the flare gun it’s a good chance they will see you. This is one item that is worth its weight in gold.

Two large metal coffee cans
Two rolls of toilet paper
Small flare-gun kit
4-8 Medium sized smokeless candles
Matches and 3-4 lighters
Bottled water(one case)
Packaged nuts, dried fruit, soup, and ramen noodles

Working In My Shop Today

Just working in the shop and trying out new tools. I set up a new item for my table saw and have played with it all day. After my playing around I worked on setting up the shop a little better. Moving some things around and resetting them in a better place. I have went over what I have and now see some things I may need to make my shop complete or complete to me.

Now on to other stuff I still think we are running out of time. I see the dollar sliding down more and more as the days and weeks go by. I see unemployment going up as time goes on. Things are tight for most of us and as time goes by it will get worse. So get to prepping ASAP and if you have not started then do it now; start a plan and work on it.

Not Much To Say Today


I was a bum most of the day. I went to the woodworking show today and got a few tools I need. And looked over the many new items that are out this year. I have a few skills I'm good at one is woodworking and the other is leather working. I have done both for years and still to this day love them both. I learn new tricks every week sometimes every time I work on something. I try to learn a new skill each year, so I can truly say I'm a jack of all trades and a master to none. As good has I think I my be at my woodworking or leather working I know I will be learning till the day I die. I think most skills are this way you pick up new little bits of info every time you do them. Over the last year I have been trying to build up my hand tools that I have. Don't get me wrong I love my power tools but I know one day I will have to work without power, and I know it can be done because our forefathers did it. The woodworkers of old didn't have a Delta table saw or router table and one day I will have to do without them, so I am working on building up my hand tools. And learning to use them. I know one day my leather work and my wood working may be the way I make a living, but I bet it will be my nursing skills that keeps me going.

Buying Preps And The People Who Look At You

I was at Wal-Mart the other day buying some items for storage. In my buggy was 20 (2lb) bags of rice, 3 (10 lb) bags of rice, 20 boxes of salt, 15 bags of red beans, 15 bags of black beans, 10 bottles of cooking oil and 8 boxes of 12ga shotgun shells. Plus I have a few other items we needed at the house. So I'm walking into sporting goods with all the food stuff in my buggy. I'm going to check on the ammo and maybe buy some. I get to the ammo case and no 22LR, 9mm, .223, 38 spl or any of the ammo I want, so I look at the shotgun shells and the have some at a good price. As I'm putting the shells into my buggy I see this guy standing about five feet from me. So I look up at him and say "hello", he said hello back and then the next second he asked me if I was getting ready for world war III. I smiled and said "no just stocking up my hunting cabin". And then I said,"maybe I should buy extra for my house in case the economy gets any worse". He look me in the face and said,"I think things are as bad as they are going to get, I think things are starting to get better".
This is the sheeple's way of thinking and it will cost most of them with there life's. I could have talked to this guy, but I know it would have been a waste of my time and his. I could see it in his eye's, this man lives to be unprepared. I still don't get the sheeple and the way they see me. I'm crazy, nut's or I'm a doom seeker but it's not crazy to waste you money on a boat you may use 4-6 times a year, or go on trips to God knows where and spend a ton of money. I'm not saying to stop having fun or going on trip, because I still do. But for your safety and the safety of your family stock up on food, water, medical supplies and household items you will need. It take a little bit of your time and you do have to work hard at keeping your preps up to date and ready, but the pay off is 100 times what you put into it. Get you head out of the clouds and wake up, because our time is short. The dollar is on it's last leg and I don't think it will make it very far. And when(not if) hyperinflation hits us your dollar will not go very far at all. Can you even think of the way people will react to the price of milk going from $2.99 a gallon to $12.99 a gallon or worse. Now is the time to wake up and start stocking up.
I still think evil is just over the hill and our time is so very short.

Gold And Silver Up The Dollar Is Down......Next Is The Collapse


Well I woke up today to the dollar going down and gold and silver going up. I see the collapse coming soon, and when it hits it will hit with a vengeance. For to long people have hot paid any attention to the writing on the wall. And now the same people are going to get a wake up call they will never forget. I plan for the collapse and stock up on food, water, and medical supplies, but many don't and don't want to hear about it. So I stopped talking to them about the collapse. I do still talk about it a little at work but not as as much as before. I now wait till someone brings it up first. And then I will talk about how I feel and say what needs to be said. I feel that the collapse is near and our time is short, so you need to stock up and if you are getting ready for the collapse then you need to kick it into hing gear. I think the collapse will hit within the next 30-180 days. It may wait till after the new year but I think the bad shopping season will bring on the down fall. Some people don't have the money to pay for the rent, lights and other bills so many people will for-go the bills to buy the kids toy's for Christmas and this will be a spark to start the fire. My friends get yourself ready and stock up on items you need to survive because our time is short and evil is just over the hill and night is coming.

Fun Day....


Well today is a fun day for me and my wife. We are going to go up to applehill to get some apples. This is a place about 25 miles up Hwy 50 and a great little place to go for the day. They have great food, carmel apples, apple pies and much much more good food. Plus we can get a box or two of apples, and the apple cider is great. And one of the best things about this day is it will not break my bank, because it's not over priced like everything in CA.
As Andrea has said before in one of the comments she left at my blog, "You have to have fun from time to time" I'm not sure if that's her exact words but I think it was what she was saying. So I'm taking her advice and going on a fun day trip. So I'm off to look at home-made crafts and soaps and eat some great food. I hope everyone has a great day. Pete

More On Preps

I know most of us are working on our preps. If you are anything like me you never feel like you have enough of what you are stocking up on. When I get to a point that I feel like I'm getting close to having enough, it's at that point I look at what I have and think, "I could use two time what I have". I work on my preps every week and sometimes I do something with my preps everyday. One day it could be something as small as adding a few cans of soup that I got on sale and the next day it can be something as big as adding three or four 5 gallon buckets of salt, sugar or flour. Every day I add to my preps I feel a little better about my survival and the survival of my family. I was at Wal-Mart today and saw the LED clear lights I want to get after the Christmas shopping season I will watch for this item to be marked down. I got some glow sticks today from the markdown area, they were .25 cents a piece. I got 15 of them and I think I will go to the other Wal-Mart near me and see if they have any left.
Just keep it in your mind that when you are out and about keep an eye out for items you can use for survival. I always check out the markdown area. Last year I was at Wal-Mart and checked out the markdown area and found Mt. House freeze dried food the camping ones in the pouch. I bought all they had and checked all the stores near me and cleared them all out. So keep an eye out for deals and if you see something that is a seasonal item wait till they mark it down, so you can get the item you want and save money to.
And remember this year is going to be a bad shopping season so wait for the sales. I'm sure most stores will be running big sales as soon as they see the shopping season is going bad to worse. So just keep your eyes open and shop smart.

More Working On My Preps Today.....

This is my weekend to work, I have to work every other weekend. So I try to work on my preps a little before work. I move things and check dates and look over the items. I check the food saver bag to see if the seal of air is still in tact. I check the caned food and look over the cans for dents and to see if any have popped out.
Today I was looking over my deitz lanterns and checking the lantern fuel. I have a great stock of the fuel but I think I will get more. I don't think you can have to much lantern fuel. I plan on having light when TSHTF. I plan to live as good a life as I can, but I can only do that if I plan now and work hard to get myself ready. So I plan and work on my plan and then recheck my plan for holes. This is how we survivalist do things, we check and recheck till we get it right. And as we go on with life we see new things that we can add to our preps, so we then add the new item into the plan and it all starts over again. You just can't buy some survival items and put them in your back room and never check them. You have to add to them and rotate them and check them. Being a survivalist is hard work and work that is on going, but it will pay off 100 times the work you put into it.
All you have to do is look around yourself and see the world we live in. You know you need to get ready; and if you have not started may I ask you why not? Now is the time to start you may think it's to late but it's not. Everyday you put supplies away is one more day you made yourself more prepared. Working On My Preps


Was at CVS today and they had all of the Halloween items at 75% off. So i stopped and looked at the items and found a box set of 30 LED lights(Orange) The set has a bulb life of 25,000 hours and is 7.5 feet long. The best part is one set of 30 LED lights is 2.4watts(0.02 amps) so it will use very little power on my 12 volt power setup. I could use this set to have low light at night in a room or two in the house. I bought all they had and that was a total of 5 sets so that gives me 150 LED lights at 12 total watts and 0.10 amps. I think this will work well even on a small battery setup. I plan to build a battery cart with wheels so I can move it around and still plug it into the solar hookup to charge. I think I will look for Christmas lights after the shopping season and find them marked down. That way I may be able to find some in clear and I think the clear will put off even more light than the orange. I think the little things that we find are what will help make our days after the fall even better. The little item that now is just a little bit of junk could be a big deal in the post event of doom. Keep your eye's open and your ear to the ground because the evil is just over the hill and night is coming. And as always stock up on food, water and medical supplies!!!!

The Worst Is Yet To Come......


I saw today that the unemployment rate is at 10.2%, that's up from 9.8% in September. So the jobless rate is still going up, and food, gas, power, and every other item we use everyday is going up in price, but the economy is getting better as told by our leaders. This is BULL!!!! This country is on a down hill run at full speed and it will only stop when it hits the bottom. This crash will happen after this Christmas shopping is the worst in the history of this country. And the big job dump at the end or in the middle of the Christmas non-shopping season. I feel like this is the countries last dance. Most people will not see this coming, and the few that are ready will still have a hard time, but not as bad as the walking dead that think the Government will save them and make everything alright. If the walking dead are lucky they will wake up at the last second and be able to stock up on a few days or a weeks worth of food and water. But very few will do this and it's just a band aid to the problem. The survivalist who have stocked up for years and have ran over and over in there heads the crash many times will not have it easy. A hard road is before us and much work is left to do. I pray for our country and I pray for you fine people who have took the time to make yourself ready and safe to the evil that is just over the hill. And as I say every time I post, Stop and make the time to stock up on food, water, medical supplies and everyday household items you will need to survive the crash.
There is a dark evil just over the hill and night is coming, so stand ready.

Working On My Supplies

Well got up today and started to work on my preps. I am going to buy some more water today and maybe some butter to can. I see wal-mart has 1 lb of butter for $1.50, and here it sells for $2.25 and up for the everyday price. So I think I will get some of that butter. I plan to buy some more food saver bags today and start putting away more rice and beans. The way I do this works well for me, I bag up the rice in 1 lb bags and the beans into 2 lb bags. After I bag them I put them into a 5 gallon bucket and store them. I plan to eat well WTSHTF, and I plan for my family to eat well also. I spend time thinking of where my holes are in my prepping. I know I have them; we all do. I just hope the hole I have is one I can trade or barter for after the fall.
Looks as if the gold and silver prices are going up. That's good if you have it. I have a small amount of silver, but I put my money now into food, water, medical supplies and any household items I think we may need for the big fall.
As I do every time I post. I'm telling you all to get ready for the big fall, or the event of doom. The evil is just over the hill and night is coming!

A New Month And The Same Old Tyranny

Well our government is up to it's same old games. At one point in the last week or two I heard them say that the recession is over and we are on the way back up, and today I go to yahoo and read this,

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama said Monday the public and private sectors must find more ways to create jobs to continue the nation's climb out of an economic recession.

Obama said the economy has pulled back "from the brink" but still has a long way to go, especially in creating jobs. The president said job losses would continue for weeks and months to come and called for bold, innovative action by his administration, Congress and the private sector to create more good-paying jobs.

Obama made the remarks at the start of a White House meeting in the Roosevelt Room with economic advisers. The session was open to reporters and streamed live on the White House Web site.

He also said the U.S. must break out of a "debilitating gridlock on trade policy," by ending the false choice between a wide-open, free wheeling import policy or fearful, protectionist approach to trade. He called for a more balanced policy of letting the world know America wants to compete and trade -- fairly -- with anyone. He gave no specifics.

In opening remarks, Obama credited his stimulus package for recent upticks in economic numbers, including a significant boost in manufacturing that was reported on Monday.

But, he said, "The reason we're here today is because we just are not where we need to be yet. We've got a long way to go. We are still seeing production levels that are significantly below peak levels and most distressing is the fact that job growth continues to lag."

So let me get this right, we are out of the recession and have pulled back from the brink of doom. But we are going to keep losing jobs. And every month we get the news that the last month was worse than the one before. I just can't see how the recession is over; unless they are ready to admit that we are in a full depression. I think the worst is still down the road. Wait till this Christmas season is the worst in the last 50 years. Most of the people of this country can see the writing on the wall and know we are in big trouble. The people that don't see it are all fools. I think the economy is just about to pop. The FED and uncle sugar have pumped up the dollar and the stock market just about as much as they can and it's all about to go BOOM!!!
As I have always said, please get your house in order and stock as much ammo,food, water, medical supplies and household items as you can. Our time is getting very short and everyday we let slip by is a day we will never get back, so get your butt in gear and start to prep and if you are a prepper now then keep it up and kick it into high gear. The Evil is just over the hill and night is coming.

Any number of pundits claim that we have now passed the worst of the recession. Green shoots of recovery are supposedly popping up all around the country, and the economy is expected to resume growing soon at an annual rate of 3% to 4%. Many of these are the same people who insisted that the economy would continue growing last year, even while it was clear that we were already in the beginning stages of a recession.

A false recovery is under way. I am reminded of the outlook in 1930, when the experts were certain that the worst of the Depression was over and that recovery was just around the corner. The economy and stock market seemed to be recovering, and there was optimism that the recession, like many of those before it, would be over in a year or less. Instead, the interventionist policies of Hoover and Roosevelt caused the Depression to worsen, and the Dow Jones industrial average did not recover to 1929 levels until 1954. I fear that our stimulus and bailout programs have already done too much to prevent the economy from recovering in a natural manner and will result in yet another asset bubble.

Anytime the central bank intervenes to pump trillions of dollars into the financial system, a bubble is created that must eventually deflate. We have seen the results of Alan Greenspan's excessively low interest rates: the housing bubble, the explosion of subprime loans and the subsequent collapse of the bubble, which took down numerous financial institutions. Rather than allow the market to correct itself and clear away the worst excesses of the boom period, the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury colluded to put taxpayers on the hook for trillions of dollars. Those banks and financial institutions that took on the largest risks and performed worst were rewarded with billions in taxpayer dollars, allowing them to survive and compete with their better-managed peers.

This is nothing less than the creation of another bubble. By attempting to cushion the economy from the worst shocks of the housing bubble's collapse, the Federal Reserve has ensured that the ultimate correction of its flawed economic policies will be more severe than it otherwise would have been. Even with the massive interventions, unemployment is near 10% and likely to increase, foreigners are cutting back on purchases of Treasury debt and the Federal Reserve's balance sheet remains bloated at an unprecedented $2 trillion. Can anyone realistically argue that a few small upticks in a handful of economic indicators are a sign that the recession is over?

What is more likely happening is a repeat of the Great Depression. We might have up to a year or so of an economy growing just slightly above stagnation, followed by a drop in growth worse than anything we have seen in the past two years. As the housing market fails to return to any sense of normalcy, commercial real estate begins to collapse and manufacturers produce goods that cannot be purchased by debt-strapped consumers, the economy will falter. That will go on until we come to our senses and end this wasteful government spending.

Government intervention cannot lead to economic growth. Where does the money come from for Tarp (Treasury's program to buy bad bank paper), the stimulus handouts and the cash for clunkers? It can come only from taxpayers, from sales of Treasury debt or through the printing of new money. Paying for these programs out of tax revenues is pure redistribution; it takes money out of one person's pocket and gives it to someone else without creating any new wealth. Besides, tax revenues have fallen drastically as unemployment has risen, yet government spending continues to increase. As for Treasury debt, the Chinese and other foreign investors are more and more reluctant to buy it, denominated as it is in depreciating dollars.

The only remaining option is to have the Fed create new money out of thin air. This is inflation. Higher prices lead to a devalued dollar and a lower standard of living for Americans. The Fed has already overseen a 95% loss in the dollar's purchasing power since 1913. If we do not stop this profligate spending soon, we risk hyperinflation and seeing a 95% devaluation every year.

Survival Skills # 33 How to Make a Bug-Out Plan

We all need a bug-out plan, this plan will give us multiple routes from our home or place of work and yes you need a bug-out plan from your place of work. With bug-out plans in place and bug-out bags ready to grab and go and your retreat or backup place to bug-out to you will increase you survivability. Your retreat should have back-up supplies and be ready to go when you get there or only take a short time to get up and running.

Bug-Out Plan

#1 Sit down with maps of your area and map out four or five routes from your house and place of work.

#2 Get into your car/truck and drive the routes. Stop from time to time and make notes about your route. Things you may put into your notes would be stores you will go by and places you may want to avoid if things get very bad, but if you are bugging out then it must be bad already.

#3 Next you need to walk your routes and look for short cuts. You must remember that being a survivalist means you plan ahead for as many things as you can. And you may not get to bug-out with your car/truck you may have to walk your route so you need to know the routes that have the shortest walk time and has the good short cuts. You do need to remember that your safety is top priority. Use a camera to take photos of things of importance.

#4 Plan ahead on your routes. Take your top two routes, the ones you think you will take incase of an event of doom and place a cache along the route. You may want you place food, water, ammo or other items in your cache. Having a cache or two may save your life! And remember you can place a cache on each of your routes. You can always go and get them later. Just remember to hide them well and know how to get to them; maps are great and a GPS is to but a EMP will make your GPS a paper weight, so have a back up if you use a GPS to mark your caches.

#5 Keep your mouth shut about your routes. You and your family are the only ones to know your routes. And I would only tell the family the need to know items or info. The less other people know about your routes the better off you are. The best friends you have known for 15 years down the street. The ones who would never hurt anyone and so full of love. Well when there kids are starving and they know you have food and water. They may change into someone you don’t want to see or ever meet. I think that the less we talk about our plans and food stores the better we are.

#6 Keep you car/truck up and running. Do regular maintenance and keep extra parts to have on hand. It would be very bad if a great event of doom hit and your car/truck spark plug wire is cut be a evil doer and because you don’t have one; now you are walking out and not driving out.

#7 Do check-ups on your plan. From time to time roads close and get blocked so you need to keep up on your routes and make needed changes. Plan to survive and survive to live.

c. Camera to take needed photos of things along your route, make a little flip book of your route
d. Items to use for your caches (5 gallon buckets, food, water and ammo)
e. Note book for all your notes
f. A little time each week to do this

Basic Disaster Supplies Kit

Earthquakes, floods, and other disasters can seriously disrupt normal life. Services may not be available, transportation may be cut off and roads may be blocked. In some cases, you may be forced to evacuate. Be ready to respond to any situation by assembling and maintaining a Disaster Supplies Kit.

Water
Plan on one gallon of water per person per day. Store water in plastic containers such as soft drink bottles. Avoid using containers that will decompose or break, such as mason jars or glass bottles. Use water for health. Store with OxyDrops please don’t use Clorox Bleach to store water.
Because water is so important to human survival, it should never be withheld. Drink at least two quarts per day, as long as supplies last, and look for alternative sources.

Food
Store at least a 7-14 days(A 30 day supply is better) of no-perishable food. Choose foods that require no refrigeration, cooking, or preparation and are compact and lightweight. If food must be cooked, include a few cans of Sterno and the small Sterno Stove you can get these at Wal-Mart or a camping store and cost less than $10. You will need to have a way to heat water and heat food so more than one way to cook is a must. Get a cheap camp stove and have lots of extra fuel.

Food suggestions:

Ready-to-eat canned meats, fruits, and vegetables
Canned juices, milk, soup (if powdered, store extra water)
Staples-sugar, salt, pepper
High energy foods-peanut butter, jelly, crackers, nuts, health food bars, trail mix.
Comfort stress foods-cookies, hard candy, sweetened cereals.
Vitamins
Container - Sandwich Bags
Store the supplies in an easy-to-carry object such as a large, covered trash container, camping backpack, or a duffel bag.

This is just a start for a first aid kit you will have to add to and build this kit over the weeks and days to come, but time is short so start now.
Have two first aid kits. Keep a complete first aid kit in your home and car.

Find a good basic first aid textbook and read it and take a first aid and CPR class. If you have the extra time take a EMT class you will never think you wasted your time.

Storage Suggestions
Store the kit in a safe, convenient place known to all family members. If possible, it should be a cool, dry, dark location. Keep a smaller version of your Disaster Supplies Kit in the trunk of your car. Keep items, or groups of items, in water-proof and air tight plastic bags. Change the water supply every six months so it stays fresh. Rotate the food every six months. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the proper procedure for storing prescription medications. Replace batteries often.

WE ARE SURVIVALISTS

WE ARE SURVIVALISTS He who fails to prepare for the night, fails to prepare for the dawn. I am a survivalist and by nature a survivalist is an OPTIMIST. I do not have one pessimistic bone in my body. If what I just said sounds odd to you then you are not yet a survivalist and you do not understand the modern survivalist at all. It has been very difficult to communicate to the public and the mass communications media, the concept of an optimistic, hopeful survivalist. A fireman is a fireman, not because he believes everything will burn, but because he believes much can be saved. Doctors don't believe in death, they believe in life, and a survivalist is not a survivalist because he believes everything must be destroyed and everyone must die, he believes that life and freedom can be saved, if people of good will are prepared. A fireman does not start fires, a doctor does not make disease and a survivalist does not make disaster. Crime, disease, war, revolution, fire, flood, periodic financial collapse and famine are the results of nature and the nature of man and unfortunately are not within the power of anyone on this earth to prevent. We all know that the sun will set each day, leaving us in darkness and we all know that warm summers give way to cold winters and that we can do nothing to keep the sun from setting or the cold winds from coming, does this make us pessimistic? I think not! So then why is the survivalist called a pessimist when he makes ready to face events that are just as much part of history and nature as the sunset and changing of the seasons. Another misconception is that survivalists are predicting world disaster. On the contrary, we seem to be the OPTIMISTIC MINORITY that is predicting world survival. We are hard pressed to find any well recommended historians, economists, political scientists, sociologists or military strategists that can come up with a scenario that gives even a fifty-fifty chance of avoiding a large scale catastrophe, yet we survivalist dare to be OPTIMISTIC about the future. We survivalists do not need to predict the probability of disaster anymore than we need to predict the sun setting. Those who put down survivalists, are like men who refuse to look at a calendar, in the hope that through self-imposed ignorance they can keep from aging another year. "You survivalists will be disappointed if we don't have a world cataclysm", here is another accusation that is pure B.S. and I could not think of a milder phrase to describe it. We survivalists have loved ones we don't want to see hurt or killed, we have homes we don't want to see destroyed, we are not fools to think that just because we are survivalist a world cataclysm would be fun for us or the we would not experience danger, loss, hunger, injury, cold or even despair and death. We have spent time and money to improve our chances for survival and recovery from disaster, but we would have a great celebration if some day we could be assured that we had wasted our time. No, we will not be disappointed if there is no disaster to survive, anymore than the Red Cross is disappointed when there are no floods and storms or the man who buys an insurance policy is disappointed when his house fails to burn down. It may be said that the survivalist would much prefer the pleasant (but unlikely) surprise of being wrong to the (probable) deadly rude awakening that the non-survivalist will face if he is wrong. So, you see the survivalist can not lose because his survival preparations will be of value regardless of what the future has in store. In time of crisis, those who have not prepared to turn to each other, will turn on each other. It is most regrettable indeed, that many people consider survivalists as a threat and regard them with suspicion and even hostility. This attitude is logically indefensible and is rooted in the non-survivalists own sense of fear and guilt. Subconsciously, the non-survivalist may hate the survivalist for reminding him of how fragile his lifestyle is. Now, let's get the facts turned around right. THE MOST DANGEROUS PEOPLE IN AMERICA TODAY ARE THE NON-SURVIVALIST. Every person who has not made provisions for surviving without food, water, fuel and other essential needs from the outside, is a mortal danger to his neighbors. What will a man do when he and his family are freezing, hungry, thirsty, sick and starving? He may ask or beg his neighbors for help, but when they have no extra fuel, food, water or medicine to give, will he just go back home to die with his wife and kids? What do you think? We survivalists who stock up on food and other supplies, now do a favor to society because what we now buy is replaced on the shelves so there will be that much more available in an emergency. We survivalists won't be looting and killing for food. We won't be a burden on the medical facilities or a danger to the police. Since we will be able to turn to each other, we will not need to turn on anyone and we may be able to help at least some. Survival preparation should be regarded as a social obligation, one that every individual owes to his family and community and his nation. The non-survivalist is simply a poor and irresponsible citizen. So the reality is, that survivalists are optimistic, self-reliant individuals, who cannot help but see the imperative of preparing for the worst possible events, while hoping sincerely, that they won't happen. Today's survivalist is an asset to his community and to the world and should be proud to be called SURVIVALIST.
