Well got up today and started to work on my preps. I am going to buy some more water today and maybe some butter to can. I see wal-mart has 1 lb of butter for $1.50, and here it sells for $2.25 and up for the everyday price. So I think I will get some of that butter. I plan to buy some more food saver bags today and start putting away more rice and beans. The way I do this works well for me, I bag up the rice in 1 lb bags and the beans into 2 lb bags. After I bag them I put them into a 5 gallon bucket and store them. I plan to eat well WTSHTF, and I plan for my family to eat well also. I spend time thinking of where my holes are in my prepping. I know I have them; we all do. I just hope the hole I have is one I can trade or barter for after the fall.
Looks as if the gold and silver prices are going up. That's good if you have it. I have a small amount of silver, but I put my money now into food, water, medical supplies and any household items I think we may need for the big fall.
As I do every time I post. I'm telling you all to get ready for the big fall, or the event of doom. The evil is just over the hill and night is coming!
I use 4-5 gallon buckets too, as they seem fairly secure. We have a lot of beans, rice and pasta, plus canned meats, butter, fruits and veggies, and necessities like instant milk, sugar, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe 'gap' in our food stores is a way to cook if the power is out. We don't have a fireplace or woodstove, only a grill and that won't do too well for cooking beans. Of course in a pinch, we can dig a hole, build a fire and use our Dutch oven. I think we're going to invest in one of the volcano stoves that Emergency Essentials advertises- or we may just replace the necessary parts for our turkey fryer.
Way to go Pete. Nothing like a day with preps on your mind. We canned some butter last year, found it on sale for a crazy low price and stocked up. Still got a bunch too. We all have gaps in our preps. The understanding to know where they are is something that only a prepper can deal with. Good job buddy.
