Survival and Self-Reliance 101

This is for you new guys and people who have never put a second thought into survival or self-reliance. You have entered into a big new world that with a little work will pay off 100 times what you put into in. Everyday you stock up on food, water and other supplies or learn a new skill that will help you survive you are one more day closer to security for you and your family. Being self-reliant is freedom from the Beast, and the Beast is the system of evil and greed that is our Government. When you take that first step into the world of survival you will start down a road that will ever change; let me explain. To start with you will have a hard time finding two survivalist that think just alike as far as how to and what to stock up on. Most will be very close to the same but every one of us has our on plan for survival. If you go into a survival chat room or forum and start a post with, “What gun is best for survival?” Let me say I think the best gun for survival is the gun you feel the best with and use well but in the forum or chat room you will get many different guns and the reason why it is the best for survival. I am a strong believer that survival is a personal thing and the only person who can prep for you is you yourself. Don’t get me wrong we all need outside input to help us on our way to becoming a survivalist. We all have skills and info to share and you will never stop learning when it comes to survival. With that said you will need to get off you ass and get out and use tools and survival gear to see what works and what doesn’t work. The funny thing is a great tool for me may be a heavy hunk of junk to you, but you will never know till you use it and test it. And you don’t have to go broke to test out tools or guns. If you have a gun range near you go there and rent a gun every time you go and find one that you love and you shoot well then buy that gun and use it and get better with it. Just about every gun range has a program to rent guns. And remember to talk to the old timers at the gun range. Those old timers have great info and maybe some pointers on shooting that will help you. I still go to the free classes they have at the gun store near me just to pick up a little extra info from time to time. Use your mind it is your first survival tool and most of the time is the best tool you have. Get out and try out your tools and try out your skills and get your supplies going. Do a web search for food storage and read my old post on survival skills I’m up to #32 and I will keep going for as long as I can come up with new info. Thanks for reading my Blog and get your ass in gear time is short. Start stocking up on food, water, medical supplies and household now! Take a little time today to stock up so when the evil comes you will have the food you need to live.

  1. Great post, Pete, although I will add one thing; being a survivalist or prepper not only frees you from the Government Beast, but also the Consumer/Economy Beast. As unsettled as our country is now, the threat of martial law may feel a bit 'out there', but every knows someone who has lost a job. Having that food stocked up is such a blessing when there's no money coming in. When inflation hits (and we know it will), it will be nice to have a cushion of basics like beans, rice, pasta, canned fruit and veggies to depend on whilst paying out the wazoo for luxuries like coffee, meat or chocolate.

  2. And PS:
I'm a Carolina girl myself! Born in Ohio, reared in North Carolina in Cape Hatteras/Nags Head/Beaufort area, or wherever the USMC sent us. Should my husband ever lose his job (knock on wood), that's the area I want to move to. He was stationed at Fort Bragg and loved the area too!
