Survival Guns?

What is your list of survival guns, this list would include pistols, rifles, and shotgun. Lets say you can list two pistols, three rifles and one shotgun. So post a comment and tell what you think is the best list of survival guns.
My List
Pistols= Glock 19-9mm and S&W .38 Special

Rifles= Ruger Mini-14 and Springfield SOCOM 16 and Ruger 10/22

Shotgun= Remington Model 870 Express

I know a lot of people don't like the mini-14 but I do, for 50-75 yard shots it works very well and I have had one for years and love it. Tell me what you like and why.

  1. Hey Pete.I to own and absolutely love my mini,never once had jam or failure to fire with all kinds of ammo.The ones purchased over the counter are mini-14,I.O.inc ak-47,psl 51,rossi matched pairs 12ga-.223,ruger 10-22,ruger p-89,charter arms .38.I personally recommend everyone purchase part of their arsenal through private sale if legal,it is here in Indy those I would tell no one about.

  3. Pete,
    Sure you'd want a heavier cal to reach out and touch someone but I think you're selling the Mini 14 short on it's range.
    I have consistenly fired 1" groups at 100yds with both of mine using my own handloads.
    You can't do much better than a Mini 14 for close to moderate range. With 30 round mags you can lay down some serious cover fire.
    Or if you want to get a little more serious check these out..

    Seems you've got your basics covered on guns but I guess I'm old school when it comes to Handguns.
    If a Handgun cal don't start with a .4 in front or "mag" at the end then all your doin' pissin' off the bad guy...
    You might rethink that 9mm and .38 ;)

  6. I would want an SKS or M1 grand for a rifle(easy to get ammo because of mil suplus, pretty cheap, 30-06 or 7.62x39mm or the AK round, and I like them), a .22 of some sort eather semi or bolt action, and a Beretta Cx4 Storm. For handguns probally a ex GI issue M1911A1 Colt .45 cal and a M9 (the mil and police issue today) or Glock. Ashotgun would be eather a pumpaction or a doble barrle side by side or over and under in 12 gauge.
