Book Giveaway!!!!!

My next giveaway is for The Road.......

A searing, postapocalyptic novel destined to become Cormac McCarthy's masterpiece.

A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food—and each other.

The Road is the profoundly moving story of a journey. It boldly imagines a future in which no hope remains, but in which the father and his son, "each the other's world entire," are sustained by love. Awesome in the totality of its vision, it is an unflinching meditation on the worst and the best that we are capable of: ultimate destructiveness, desperate tenacity, and the tenderness that keeps two people alive in the face of total devastation.

How to win....... Post a comment to this posting and tell me what your next prepping item you will buy or make and why it's the next item on your list.

In a few days I will post a winner!!!

  1. Deep cell/marine batteries. That's next on our list, to store up the free energy from the sun, with our solar panels.

Thanks Pete for the continued give aways..

  2. Pete, I assume you mailed out your gifts from the last give away as Spud said he got his book. I haven't recieved anything as of today the 11th of Jan.from that give away. I sure would like the Ant. as I just got my little UHF/VHF tranceiver but I'm not sure what I "won" and if the US postal system decided to eat your package. I'm not complaining just want to give you a heads up on the missing package. I had a feeind mail me a small reloading setup and it was never found and I had a letter that finally got to me after almost 6 years from the postal service. I can't imagine why the US postal service is losing money because they provide such great service. /sarc

  3. Pete, just a heads up if you sent out the package for the last give away I didn't recieve it. But I think Spud got the book from the give away. I think the US postal service hates me! But if you need my address and are looking to give away that home made Ant. I now have a UHF/VHF radio to use with it.
If the package went to post office hell don't worry about it this is just a FYI for you.

  7. When we purchased our farmstead, there were 50 sets of sliding patio doors made of aluminum. We live in a northern climate and are pretty limited by the growing season so my plan is to build a greenhouse to supply us with all/most of our fruits and vegetables. We will use our outdoor woodstove/boiler to heat it and hopefully extend our growing season considerably. Thanks. Great site, by the way.

We live in a northern climate and have a pretty short growing season, so my plan is to build a greenhouse from the doors. I hope to grow enough fruits and vegetables to supply us with all/most of our needs. We will heat it with our outdoor woodstove/boiler that is currently heating our house. Thanks. Great site, by the way.
