Any item that is imported must have a tariff placed on it to offset any cost advantages from a. producing in a lower labor market (aka you must add labor cost to the product in order to bring the labor cost to parity with what it would cost to produce in the US) b. producing in a market that has less environmental regulations (aka you must add cost to the product in order to bring the manufacturing cost to parity with what it would cost in to produce if the manufacturing facility had to manufacture the item in the US and obey US environmental laws).<br /><br />2. Every job that was offshored would have a direct tax hit to the company that offshored the job in order to retrain the displaced workers into a new industry.<br /><br />3. Quotas for imports would be set so that raw materials would only have up to a 50% penetration of the total US market, on up to high tech consumer goods only having a 5% penetration of the US market. Lots of imports would be bid on by importers (thus driving up the costs of imports).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
